Minecraft has so far introduced Marketplace Pass which allows players to access a wide range of community-created content as well as some extras at only $3.99 per month. This news comes just before the 7th anniversary of the Minecraft Marketplace. Mojang's official store, where players and creators can earn money from their content, is only available for the Minecraft Bedrock Edition of the popular sandbox game. The new subscription service follows this pattern.

According to Mojang, the pricing may differ in different regions of the world, and the price of $3.99 is for US players only. But don’t worry, players from all over the world can sign up for a free 30-day trial of the Marketplace Pass. This new service has some similarities with Realms Plus, which provides access to the same Marketplace content catalog for $7.99 per month. Nevertheless, while Realms Plus also includes a personal Minecraft server for the user and up to 10 friends to play on, the Marketplace Pass is positioned as a more budget-friendly, single-player alternative to that subscription.

The game developer also emphasizes that its carefully selected catalog will focus on offering a wide range of high-quality content. The day-one version of Marketplace Pass already covers everything from adventure worlds and survival spawns to skin and texture packs, among other content types. Similar to how the Realms Plus subscription operates, Marketplace Pass members can anticipate that only a portion of the catalog will be rotated each month. Additionally, for the Character Creator items available, the bonuses for March 2024 include an ethereal crown, radiant leotard, and mythical boots.

The launch of the Marketplace Pass coincides with the release of Minecraft update 1.20.70/71, which includes doubling the health pool of the Wolves mob and introducing experimental features such as the Trial Chambers Vault block, alongside other updates.
