According to the latest news from Variety, Jack Black, a member of Tenacious D, is going to sing for a video game movie. Yes, you guessed it right, it's a Minecraft movie. Black didn't provide many details about how this singing collaboration would be executed, but he did mention that he would be joining his co-star Danielle Brooks in this musical endeavor.
"I love Danielle Brooks. I've been a fan of hers ever since I first saw her on 'Orange Is the New Black' and she’s just been killing it in her career… And the fact that we’re working together on 'Minecraft' is mind-blowing. And we’ve been having a ball in New Zealand, and I’m so proud of her going to the Oscars…I always tell her, 'You're the class of the cast' and she’s crushing it and can’t wait for you to see the movie,” said him.
Commencing shooting in January of this year, in New Zealand, the Minecraft film boasts an impressive cast, including Black and Brooks, alongside renowned actors such as Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, Emma Myers, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement. Despite being in development for several years, the movie is set to premiere on April 4, 2025, just over a year from now.
