The open sandbox game Minecraft has a wide array of biomes spreading across the world for players to explore. And deep in the Jungle biome, there are parrots waiting for you to take them home! Here's what you need to know about these feathery fellas and how to tame them!
About Parrots in Minecraft
Parrot is the only kind of bird in existence in Minecraft, at least for now. The Jungle biome has a 0.2 chance of spawning a parrot, which means you won't be coming across one very often. Parrots are friendly mobs that won't attack the player. However, you cannot breed these animals.
The parrot comes with a very set of behaviors. It can dance, imitate surrounding sounds, and perch on players' shoulders. But be careful not to feed them cookies. In both Java and Bedrock editions, giving cookies to a parrot means its death sentence. Cookies will poison your feathery friend, and there's no going back.
Imitating Sounds
Parrots can imitate the sound of nearby hostile or neutral mobs to alert the players. When danger is nearby, they will let you know. Yet it can also be annoying sometimes since the parrot may make sounds when there's nothing nearby.
Dancing
Whenever music is played on the Jukebox, the parrot will start to dance. It dances even when perching on players' shoulders.
How to tame a Parrot in Minecraft?
Parrots are a really fun animal species to tame in Minecraft. They will make great companions either in your home base or on the journey. And they're easy to tame, too. You can tame one by feeding it any kind of seeds, including wheat seeds, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, or beetroot seeds.
There's a 1⁄3 chance of success every time you try. Once tamed, you can right-click a parrot to make it sit down and stand up. Like tamed wolves and cats, the parrot will follow you until you tell it to sit down.
