What is The Witcher 3?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an action RPG created by Polish game studio CD Projekt Red. You play a character who goes by the name Geralt of Rivia, who is one of the monster slayers known as Witchers.
The game series itself comes from a series of fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Which means, there is chock full of lore and story materials upon which to build the game series.
A Netflix series for The Witcher has even come out starring Henry Cavill, which boosted the game series popularity even more. Read about our report on the interest surge in the Witcher games.
In The Witcher 3, there is plenty of familiar fantasy tropes for those not familiar with the story of the first two games. There are magic and spells and fantasy beings like elves and monsters.
In the midst of a war between kingdoms, Geralt must try to find and defend his adopted daughter from a threat called "Wild Hunt". This time, he has the vital support of his reunited lover, Yennefer of Vengerberg.
As Geralt, you can employ multiple ways to engage and fight a diverse number of enemies in the game. There is a crossbow, one silver sword for monsters, one for everything else, and there are even crafted bombs.
As a witcher, Geralt has access to five magical signs that act as magical attacks for different situations. He can burn, use a telekinetic blast, or confuse his enemies.
With so much goodness packed into one game: story, gameplay, lore, world design, mechanics, characters, etc., the only thing missing is hardware powerful enough to accommodate the beautiful graphics for a complete Witcher 3 experience.
