India’s longest running and arguably most prestigious esports tournament, ESL India Premiership, is almost set to begin its fifth cycle. The event is produced by NODWIN Gaming, one of the biggest esports organization in the country - it is likely that we would get some LAN action after the pandemic cooled down a bit.
This lineup is not a surprise – it looks like ESL has finally decided to embrace the mobile gamer masses of the country, with the introduction of PUBG Mobile and Clash of Clans into the list. In exchange for those two games, Dota 2 and Rainbow Six Siege were dropped from the lineup for Summer 2020 -21. This is not a surprise, as Tencent has held a lot of big tournaments in the last two years to push PUBG Mobile’s numbers to surpass both these games.
The ESL India Premiership would go live from June 1 and would be streamed on Disney + Hotstar. Top teams from all over the country would fight for the grand prize of Rs 1.15 crore. If you are interested in joining the tournament. Create an account on ESL to get your name into the list - however, you would have to be fast, as the registration phase would end on May 24.
It is a shame that Dota 2 was removed from the lineup of this season - ESL has a lot of experiences working on that game, with the last ESL Mumbai 2019 being one of the biggest Esports tournament ever in the country.
