I. Hyakunin Ikki Date & Unlock

Hyakunin Ikki will be like between March 18th and 28th, 2022. To be eligible for this event, Genshin Impact players need to reach Adventure Rank 30 and above. Besides, you have to complete the archon quest 'Ritou Escape Plan' first.

To unlock this event, you have to complete the world quest Hyakunin Ikki: Golden Whirlwind. Then, go to Narukami Island and talk to Kayabuki before entering the domain.

II. How To Play Hyakunin Ikki

Many players have been familiar with the rule and gameplay of Hyakunin Ikki. But it can be new with beginners in Genshin Impact. Follow these steps to play the Hyakunin Ikki event.

#1. Select the challenge & difficulty

There are 6 challenges during the event. But those challenges are not unlocked concurrently. New challenges will be unlocked every day.

  • Burn, My Microcosmos - Unlocked on March 18th;
  • Crisis! One Person vs. the World! - Unlocked on March 19th;
  • Thunderbolts and Lightning..! - Unlocked on March 20th;
  • Fierce Battle! Pegasus vs. Cygnus! - Unlocked on March 21st;
  • I Yearn for Combat! - Unlocked on March 22nd;
  • Behold the Endless Maelstorm! - Unlocked on March 23rd.

Besides, these challenges will feature different enemies. These monsters and enemies go in groups and waves. You can also select the difficulty level of the challenge. There are three levels of difficulty.

  • Normal - Score Multiplier x1;
  • Hard - Score Multiplier x2;
  • Extreme - Score Multiplier x4.

You will get more points if challenge hard and extreme levels.

#2. Select characters & secret arts

There are six characters for free trials, including Kamisato Ayaka, Kazuha, Yoimiya, Itto, Razor, and Xiangling. All of them are built to level 80 with the best artifacts and power buffs. You pair them with six characters in your inventory.

Then, choose two secret arts for each pair. There are many secret arts with different buffs for your characters, including transmission arts and normal secret arts.

  • Transmission Arts are marked in red.
  • Normal secret arts are marked in orange.

These Garyuu Arts buff your attack, HP recovery, Crit DMG, elemental DMG bonus, and reduce the CD of skills and bursts. These power buffs make your teams more powerful. Then, you can defeat more enemies.

#3. Defeat Enemies

After choosing the best team for challenges, you start the match. You can also check out the enemies' details before pressing the Start button. Then, switch among these teams and eliminate as many enemy ways as possible within the time limit.

Switch the team right away when you are recommended. If you keep them on the battlefield for more than 25 seconds after getting warned, they will get weaker. Don't let them down because you cannot use food during challenges. So, you cannot revive them or heal your characters when their HP gets low.

#4. Claim Rewards

When the time is up, you can choose to challenge again or exit the chamber if you complete all reward objectives. After leaving the domain, open the event banner and claim rewards for completed objectives.

III. Best Teams For Hyakunin Ikki

You need to choose the best teams for Hyakunin Ikki Challenges if you want to claim all challenge rewards in one trial only. Here are the most recommended characters to pair free-trial characters for you.

  • Pair Ayaka and a Hydro/Electro character like Raiden Shogun or Childe.
  • Itto should go with a Pyro DPS with high Crit DMG like Diluc or Hu Tao.
  • Yoimiya can pair up with Xiao or Venti to increase the AoE DMG.
  • Kaedehara Kazuha can work well in any team, so just choose a high-level DPS from your inventory.
  • Xiangling is a powerful Pyro supporter in this challenge, so you can pair her up with Raiden Shogun, Hu Tao, Klee, or Yae Miko for powerful Overloaded reactions or Pyro resonances.
  • Razor is also a useful sub-DPS for Pyro/Electro/Cryo main DPS, such as Ganyu, Chongyun, Klee, or Diluc.

If the character in your inventory duplicates the free-trial character, you should select the one with the higher level.

IV. Hyakunin Ikki Event Rewards

Genshin Impact players can get tons of rewards from Hyakunin Ikki Challenges as long as they complete event objectives.

  • Primogem x420;
  • Weapon Ascension Materials;
  • Mora x180,000;
  • Talent Level-Up Materials;
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore x36.
