Wild Rift still features a 5v5 MOBA gameplay, but with a twist for mobile owners. The map is smaller, players cast spells and abilities with dual-stick controls, and match times are just about 15 minutes. This is Riot Games’ first attempt to move to the mobile market, but it does not disappoint. The company tries to mobile gaming powerhouse Tencent Gaming, which provides an expert level of knowledge in the trade.

Does Wild Rift Cost Money to Play?

Like the original game, Wild Rift is completely free-to-play. However, it still features the in-game microtransaction system, offering in-app purchases for skins and other cosmetic items. Similar to the PC version, players can unlock all champions via gameplay alone, or purchase them to speed things up.

Riot Games has made the game F2P-friendly by providing more free champions as players level up. Wild Rift has three currencies - Blue Motes, Poro Coins, and Wild Cores. Blue Motes are the free currency (similar to Blue Essence in the PC version) and are used to unlock champions. Poro Coins are used to buy cosmetics like champion poses, emotes, and baubles. Players can save up Poro Coins to acquire a random skin.

The paid currency is called Wild Cores. It's the most powerful means for buying champions, skins, and other cosmetic items. As of now, all skins available take after those on the existing LoL skins. But we can expect original ones to release in near future.

Also, there are no jungle and support items. Junglers now have built-in smite passive abilities, and bonus gold generation for supports works in a different way. How to play LoL Wild Rift in India revolves largely around understanding the items' and champions' power.

Playing the Map

Theoretically speaking, the Wild Rift map is similar to that of the PC version. However, there are very significant changes. The most prominent one is that the map is mirrored. Your base is always in the bottom left. Hence, top and bottom lanes have been renamed solo and duo lanes.

Inhibs and inhib towers merge into one, Nexus towers are also gone, leaving the Nexus itself defending against attackers.

The jungle layout is also more compatible with faster play. Objectives such as Drake buffs have been changed to have a more active impact. To illustrate, Ocean Drake now grants a damage vamp instead of passive regeneration.

But there is one thing that does not change - vision control. It has always been a major part of MOBA gameplay, and Riot Games keep it that way in their mobile title. Warding and clearing vision smartly to give your team advantages in fights.

Knowing the Champions

Next on How to Play Wild Rift, it's time to visit the champions of the game. Currently, players have access to 55 champions, all introduced in the PC version. Needless to say, they're familiar names to any LoL veterans, featuring the same skillsets.

The majority of LoL Wild Rift champions come with 1 passive and 4 abilities. As the player levels up, they get 1 skill point. The maximum level has been reduced from 18 to 15 to fit faster gameplay.

Each champion in the game has a unique play style and skill cap. Some require more skill to maneuver around the Rift than others. Therefore, if you're starting to learn about the game, we highly recommend getting the hang of beginner-champs like Master Yi or Garen.
