Earlier this month, developer Illumix published a video on its official YouTube channel teasing what looked like a new Five Nights at Freddy’s AR mobile game, driving the FNAF fanbase crazy with speculation. Now, the company has officially confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery will be hitting both Google Play and the App Store later this year.
Using some impressive AR tech, the developer aims to create a ‘survival horror game never before seen’ that’ll deliver a brand new visual and audio gameplay experience to fans. You can expect to see all of your favorite nightmarish animatronics coming to life.
Aside from these promises from the developer, not a lot of information is available about the project at the moment. It’s unclear how close the new game will stick to the traditional point-and-click formula of the originals, but hopefully it’ll bring something new. The mainline installments are famous for the unique monster designs, compelling lore, and of course, terrifying jump scares. It seems Special Delivery will still feature all of these elements. Five Nights at Freddy’s series creator Scott Cawthon has also spoken up to praise the team for “doing an amazing job” and expressed his anticipation for the finished product.
This is not the only FNAF game currently in the works either. We are also getting Five Nights at Freddy's: Into Madness, console versions of the original titles, and an unnamed triple-A multiplayer game. And don’t forget that the FNAF movie is still set to hit theaters in 2021 too.
If you are interested in this upcoming AR game, you can head over to its official website at fnafar.com to pre-register right now. In recent years we have witnessed the debut of many AR horror games, but not many of them actually manage to deliver a genuinely scary experience. Hopefully, Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery will be able to do so. Stay tuned for more updates!
