The SaGa series has not exactly had a good time in the West. Being an unconventional JRPG series, it’s a bit hard for Western fans - who are used to the linear JRPG experience – to get into. The series has remained dormant for quite some time, but now, Square Enix has announced a release date for a remastered version of Romancing SaGa 3.
Through a brand new trailer released late last week, which you can check out right below, the studio confirmed that Romancing SaGa 3 remastered will hit Android and iOS, as well as Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on the 11th of November. While this is only confirmed for Japan, we can expect that the game will become available in other regions on the same day as well, given that the announcement also included Steam and Xbox One.
The Romancing SaGa 3 remastered version is going to feature the same engaging gameplay of the original, albeit with improved graphics, as you might expect. Most of the in-game world is open for exploration right at the beginning, and there will be several characters for you to get acquainted with, each offering their own storylines that can be progressed in a non-linear fashion.
Naturally, the turn-based battle system also makes a return here, as well as the leveling system that allows a character’s stats and skills to be improved depending on what they do in combat. Basically, this means there is plenty of room for character customization here.
Romancing SaGa 3 launches in Japan on both Android and iOS on the 11th of November 11th. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as there is more information on whether this is also the global release date, or if that will come later. Do stay tuned for more updates!
