Free Fire's addition of a character system into the usual battle royale formula has definitely set it apart from the competitors. This "character upgrade" and "level" aspects created a sense of accomplishment while playing and differentiate experienced players from new ones. Out of every character released earlier this year, Steffie is amongst the middle tier. While she is not really first pick material, her ability can shine in the most unexpected circumstances.
1 - Steffie's Backstory
Steffie has always had artistic talents, however, the circumstances surrounding her upbringing prevented her from becoming a real artist. She grew up in a war-torn country, ruled by an organization named Future Horizons, who hunted down artists and intellectuals in the name of the greater good. Steffie decided to dedicate her life to go against them and become a famous rebel fighter, leaving amazing graffiti arts in the city to mock the ruling class. She joined Cybernetica as their first non-hacker member.
2 - Steffie's Ability
Steffie's active ability is called Graffiti's Blessing. Upon activation, it would create an area on the ground marked with graffiti - which reduces bullet and explosive damage taken by Steffie as long as she stays in that circle. Overall, the ability is pretty clunky to use - it requires you to anticipate enemy actions and counter it, which is always worse than going on the offensive. You can't even use it on the go, as the effect would disappear upon leaving the circle. Multiple graffiti does not stack.
- Level 1: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 5 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 2: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 6 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 3: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 7 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 4: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 8 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 5: Unlock Summon airdrop play card
- Level 6: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 9 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
- Level 7: Unlock Steffie's banner
- Level 8: Create a graffiti that reduces explosive damage by 15% and bullet damage by 5% for 10 seconds. CD 45 seconds.
Steffie can be purchased in the shop for 499 diamonds.
3 - Tips and tricks on using Steffie
While Steffie's ability is not something you would pick first in a fight, it still has one positive aspect: -5% bullet damage taken. If you take 60 damage from a Groza bullet, this ability would reduce 3 damage. While that does not seem like much, in a shooter like Free Fire, every single point of HP matters. Overall, if you expect a fight or a rush by grenades, dropping this ability on a location and try to fight back would be your best bet. Don't hesitate to leave the site when retreating, of course.
The best skill to use in combination with Steffie's ability is probably the sniper abilities like Rafael's dead silent or Laura's Marksmanship.
