As the Game of Thrones TV series has ended, Amazon announces the Lord of the Rings TV Series to fill in the gap for fans of medieval movies. However, it seems that the producer has set their sight on the wrong crow and decided to put sex and nudity in this upcoming show.
BGT Talent Agency sent out a casting call for actors who are “comfortable with nudity”. The Lord of the Rings TV show also hired Jennifer Ward-Lealand, an intimacy coordinator, whose job is to make actors feel comfortable during a sex scene.
Of course, many Lord of the Rings fans do not feel comfortable about this additional nudity in their favorite franchise.
"Contrary to what the execs think, LOTR’s fanbase and GOT’s fanbase don’t really overlap, I don’t care how much of a Tolkien fanboy GRRM says he is. Literally no one is asking for pointless sex & nudity in the Amazon LOTR series."
To be fair, one of the big reasons why Game of Thrones was so famous was because of the excessive amount of nudity it had. George R.R. Martin sees them as a part of the realistic tone for Game of Thrones.
It seems that Amazon is trying to forcefully add those elements into the TV show, even though it doesn't fit really well, to be able to compete with Game of Thrones.
It is not 100% sure that the new Lord of the Rings TV Series will go in that direction, but it does then we can expect it to be either massive or a complete failure.
