Looks like Hollywood has figured out how to make movies based on video games, as the recent Sonic the Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu have been very successful. Those two movies had brought great revenue and open up the market for even more down the line. While Tomb Raider 2018 wasn't that much of a success - it is still very well put together, enough to get itself a sequel in March 2021.

Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

While there haven't been many details revealed about the Tomb Raider sequel, it is still pretty easy to guess. With the 2018 movie based on the 2013 reboot of the franchise, it is just obvious that the sequel would be adapted using the elements from the game's latter two parts. That turned out to be the case after a recent report. With the information available from the leak and the previous ending/credit scenes from the 2018 movie, we could more or less scramble together a decent image of what would happen in the sequel.

The 2018 movie was very faithful to the games

With the ending of the first film reveals Ana Miller's real allegiance - Trinity, it is very likely that Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft would clash with the group again. Trinity is an ancient order who aspire to gain dominance over the world using the powers gained from ancient artifacts. They were not the enemies in the first game, however, the 2018 movie fused them and the Solarii Brotherhood together.

It is very likely that this version of Lara would be in the new movie

The moviemakers probably are going to come back to the root of Tomb Raider in the sequel, with various iconic items added to fuel nostalgia. Lara's new outfits would be much sexier, similar to the 2003 version - however, as Vikander does not have Angelina Jolie's sexy body, it probably would not be as effective. The dual pistols would make a comeback as well.
The movie would go into production in 2 months - we will report more about plot details and character designs soon.
Tomb Raider 2 will be released on March 19, 2021.
