Minecraft 1.19 is going to be one of the biggest updates for Minecraft to date. It is going to completely overhaul the swamp system in the game, alongside adding in various things that were left out of the 1.18 caves and cliffs update. In this article, we are going to showcase the 4 new biomes to be added in Minecraft 1.19: The Wild Update.

1. Swamp Overhauled

The swamp biomes will be completely reworked in the new update. They will contain mostly mud now, with new mobs like frogs, tadpoles and fireflies spawning. Mangrove trees are going to be added there as well.

Mud can be created by using a water bottle on a dirt block. Additionally, they can also be placed on top of dripstone to dehydrate and form clay. This in turn enables renewable clay. Mud Bricks can be crafted using mud, sand, and wheat.

2. Mangrove Swamp

The Mangrove Swamp is a new biome variant of a swamp. They contain mangrove trees, with these trees being the only plant that can generate there.

Mangrove trees will naturally appear in the mangrove swamps biome, but you can also grow them yourself. To grow a mangrove tree, you need to get a propagule, which you can find hanging from mangrove tree leaves. Propagules are essentially the mangrove's version of a sapling, but they physically grow on the tree rather than dropping when you destroy the leaves.

3. Deep Dark

The Deep Dark is a new biome at the "deepest depths of the world". It was originally planned for 1.17, then moved to 1.18, and was then postponed to 1.19 due to increased scope. It is the rarest cave biome and may not contain any water or lava aquifers.

Sculk
Sculk is very common in the Deep Dark

Players can find the Deep Dark under continental/mountainous areas. It is often generated exclusively within the deepslate layer between Y=-1 and Y=-64. The biome will contain Deep Dark Cities, alongside all sculk-related blocks.

Similar to mushroom fields, with the exception of spawners, no mobs other than wardens can spawn there, through the activation of sculk shriekers.

4. Deep Dark City

This is a new structure-based biome that generates within the Deep Dark, with different levels and open spaces. It includes all of the Deep Dark features within it, alongside a few unique things of its own. The city is mostly made of deepslate and its variants, basalt blocks and its variants, planks, and wool.

Deep Dark City contains a lot of terrifying things.

According to Brandon Pearce, these cities might have been built by an ancient civilization. Their general atmosphere is pretty spooky, with soul sand, soul fire and soul lanterns scattered all over. Candles and skeleton skulls also spawn as well.

The most valuable part of the biome is probably the Deek Dark chests which contain unique loot. They are items that cannot be found anywhere else, which provide unique abilities and mechanics to players that weren't possible before and are not attainable by other methods.
