After a long period of silence, Activision has decided to just release their newest Call of Duty project abruptly without any fanfare or buzz. Call of Duty: Warzone would be a free standalone Battle Royale game, developed in collaboration between Call of Duty series’ developer Infinity Ward and Raven Software. The game would be unlocked later today for every region in the world.
If you own a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019, you would be able to play the game 4 hours earlier – for India gamers, Warzone would be unlocked at 12:30 IST. Besides the PC version, Warzone is also available on Xbox One and PS4.
About Call of Duty Warzone:
There are two game modes in Warzone: Battle Royale and Plunder. The former is more or less the same as other games in the battle royale genre – players would drop into the map in squads of three and go against each other until there’s only one team left alive. The battlefield would grow smaller over time, as a circle of gas would close in.
Plunder, however, is a completely new mode that involves collecting cash. You can earn money by stealing, looting, or doing “contracts” – those are quests that you could accept while in the match. There are a few types of contracts that require different things like open supply boxes or go to a location.
Both modes would take place in the sole map of the game called Verdansk. Based on Activision’s announcement, Verdansk would be a big city with over 300 points of interest and contains a lot of different types of vehicles.
How to Download Call of Duty Warzone:
Warzone’s game files are going to take a lot of space – between 83 to 101 GB. If you already owned Modern Warfare, the update is going to be much lighter, only 23 GB – and Warzone is going to replace the “classified” tab of the game.
If you don’t already have Modern Warfare, you would have to go to your platform’s store for Activision: The PS store for PS4, Xbox Store for Xbox One, and Battle.net for PC. Browse for Warzone’s game page and start your download. The first 20 GB of Warzone would include a free bot mode called Gunfire, which you can use to practice offline before jumping in.
