At the 14th of April, we have the mark of 10-weekend tournaments qualifier for Fornite World Cup which will be held in July. There were many talks surrounding the subject of cheating on Fornite going on.
Huge Numbers of Banned Accounts
According to Epic Games, they have banned about 1,221 accounts in Fortnite just in the aftermath of Week One Solos qualifier tournament on 14th of April. Epic has given 14-day bans to 1,163 accounts for playing on two regions or more. Even more so, 196 of these accounts has even reached high enough to earn prize money, all that was forfeited.
They banned 48 accounts for 7 days because they detected many players was using the same account. Nine of this won prize so Epic has forfeited this money also. Another 8 accounts were banned for teaming up. One of them also won prize money, which will be forfeited by Epic soon.
At last, they also banned one account in 72-hours because they log out after a losing game to avoid giving the points to the opponent.
Epic Games vs Cheating
With lots on the line in this qualifier tournaments, both about the $30 million for the World Cup or the $1 million individual prize each weekend, Epic must take further actions to prevent cheating.
With the banned list above, they have delivered the punishments to the offenders based on the severity of their offense. The penalties go from a warning, temporary and permanent competitive ban, and even permanent ban from Fornite. With this anti-cheat campaign, Epic has been using algorithms to detect the players who violate the rules of the game. Moreover, they will also monitor the server replays of high-profile matches to ensure the integrity of the tournaments.
