A panda is a rare neutral mob that resides in jungles. They spawn with a randomized personality and amongst them, the brown variant is the rarest. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase a guide on how to breed a brown panda in Minecraft.

1. How to find pandas in Minecraft

In order to breed pandas, you need to find a couple of them first. Pandas spawn rarely, in groups of 1–2 in jungle biomes at the surface on grass blocks with at least two-block space above them at a light level of 9 or more. Pandas have a higher spawn rate in Bamboo Jungles (80/160 spawn chance) and Bamboo Jungle Hills (80/130).

Therefore, the best chance for players to locate a panda is to find the bamboo jungle biome. It usually spawns next to the Taiga biome or near extreme hill biomes. This might take a long time, however - players might want to use a seed that generates a bamboo jungle instead.

2. How to breed pandas in Minecraft

Pandas are the only animal in Minecraft with extra breeding conditions. Players need to place at least 8 bamboo blocks within a 5 block radius of both pandas for them to enter love mode. Afterward, feeding them bamboo causes them to mate and create a baby panda. Upon successful breeding, 1–7 experience is dropped.

Basically, just keep feeding them bamboo until hearts appear over their head and push them together.

Without a sufficient number of bamboo blocks in the vicinity, the Pandas would just sit and eat the bamboo without breeding. Furthermore, if the player feeds two pandas too close, they can bleat and become hostile.

When two pandas breed, each one passes one of their genes to their children, who then randomly mix both obtained genes as their respective main and hidden genes. There is also a 1⁄32 chance for each gene of the baby to mutate into another gene.
