How to play music in Minecraft

You will need some components to be able to get the music rolling in your Minecraft world:

  • Music Discs
  • Jukebox/Noteblock

Here’s how to get them.

1. Music Discs

Minecraft Music Discs are naturally generating items that cannot be manually made by players. The collection currently has 13 music discs with separate colors and tunes to signify their title. Each of them features a different rhythm ranging from soft, soulful, to vibrant and spooky tones.

All Music Discs Minecraft
Music discs are uncommon items in Minecraft and are typically found in loot chests.

The most common locations to find Music Discs are the Bastion Remnants Chest, Dungeon Chests, and Woodland Mansion Chests. The game developers will surely add more tracks in the future.

2. Jukebox and Noteblock

The jukebox is the needed mechanical item allowing players to play Music Discs. Just insert the discs into the player and you shall hear the melodies.

To create a jukebox, place 1 diamond and 8 wood planks in the 3x3 crafting grid. You can use any type of wood planks like oak, birch, spruce, crimson, warped, jungle, or acacia.

Jukebox
A jukebox is needed in order for the music to be played in the Minecraft world.

While Jukebox is in charge of playing music, the Noteblock is for making notes with the help of existing blocks and redstone. Some players have even made the entire musical tunes with a lot of Noteblocks and redstone.

On another hand, jukeboxes can also be used as furnace fuel in a pinch to smelt one and a half items each block. Although it is not too economical, it can come in handy in a tight place where players are unable to have lava, coal, or other fuel sources ready.
