A spawner is a cage-like block that can spawn mobs. They are the key component for building any kind of mob farm. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase a list of all spawners in Minecraft and how to find them.
Spawners cannot be obtained in Survival, even with Silk Touch. If broken with a pickaxe, a spawner drops 15-43 experience. When mined with anything else, it drops nothing.
1. Zombie Spawner
Zombie Spawner has a 50% chance to spawn in the center of a dungeon. Players can create a zombie farm for Rotten Flesh, Iron Ingots, Gears and Armor. Players can even drown them to create a drowned farm.
Unlike other big structures like Nether Fortress, you can't find the Dungeons in Minecraft using a normal game mechanic. Furthermore, unlike most generated structures, dungeons cannot be located with /locate either.
To locate a dungeon, players need to use third-party extensions like chunkbase.com. Load up the site and type in your seed to generate a map of your world. The potential locations for dungeon spawns will be marked on your map.
2. Skeleton Spawner
Skeleton Spawners are also spawned in a Dungeon, however, the chance for them to appear is only 25%, which makes them much rarer. They can be used to create a bone meal farm, with other drops being arrows, bows and armor.
3. Spider Spawner
Similar to Skeleton Spawners, Spider Spawners also have a 25% chance to appear in a dungeon. However, players can occasionally find them in a Woodland Mansion. It generates in a secret room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, densely surrounded by cobwebs. The spawner is sometimes visible through the windows from outside. Players can farm spiders for string and spider eyes.
Woodland mansions typically generate thousands of blocks from the spawn point. The nearest woodland mansion may also be located via the /locate mansion command enabled by cheats. They can be located with woodland explorer maps, which are obtained from cartographer villagers, but a map may not always point to the nearest one.
4. Cave Spider Spawner
Cave spiders are pretty much identical to spiders, outside of their appearance and the poison effect on attacks. They also drop the same thing as spiders. Players can find Cave spider Spawners scattered throughout Mineshafts, densely surrounded by cobwebs.
Mineshafts can generate in any Overworld biome, usually underground and connect to caves. Players can find them generate on the surface in badlands biomes.
5. Silverfish Spawner
Silverfish spawners naturally generate in end portal rooms in strongholds. They only spawn at light level 11 or lower, or on stone types they can enter (stone, cobblestone, stone bricks, etc.) at any light level, and cannot spawn within a 5 block distance of any player. This is the only renewable source of silverfish and infested blocks.
Silverfish drops nothing and is just an annoying mob in general. Players should just destroy the Silverfish spawner when encountered. Players should use a Silk touch pickaxe when encountering silverfish, as it prevents them from spawning.
To find a Stronghold in Minecraft, just throw an eye of ender into the air. It will move in the direction of the stronghold. Try to use them sparingly, as you will need at least 8 to complete the end portal. Once the player is above the stronghold, the eyes of the ender will fly into the ground, telling the player to dig down. Just dig that spot to get to the stronghold.
To get the eyes of Ender required, players need to do the following steps:
- Kill Endermen to get at least 15 Ender Pearls
- Get blaze rods and turn them into blaze powder
- Craft 15 or more eyes of ender using pearl and blaze powder
6. Blaze Spawner
In the Nether Fortress, players can find one or two blaze spawners on fenced platforms with full-block "stairs" leading up to them. Normally two are generated per fortress, but there can be fewer.
Blaze drops blaze rods, which are amazing fuels for brewing and crafting. Their exp drop is also good as well. This makes Blaze farms very efficient and therefore players should save the first blaze spawners they encounter.
While Nether Fortresses can be found scattered across the Nether in Minecraft, their spawning isn't entirely random. Nether Fortresses are more likely to spawn on the positive side of the X-axis, therefore moving north or south while keeping the X-axis positive is the best way to search for them.
7. Magma Cube Spawner
One magma cube spawner usually spawns hanging from a chain underneath a bridge in the Bastion remnants' treasure rooms. Magma cubes drop Magma cream, which is used in brewing potions of Fire Resistance, and to manually craft magma blocks.
A Bastion Remnant in Minecraft looks like a large dark tower made out of blackstone (and blackstone variations). It can be found in the Nether dimension in the Nether Wastes, Soul Sand Valley, Warped Forest and Crimson Forest biomes.
