Minecraft 1.18 Caves & Cliffs are probably Mojang's most ambitious update to date. The patch was so big the devs had to divide it into 2 parts. Fans have been waiting for the 1.18 update for quite a while, and on a recent post on Minecraft's official website, the release date of Minecraft 1.18 caves and cliffs part 2 is finally revealed. In this article, we are going to list out everything you need to know about the new patch and its confirmed features.

1. Minecraft 1.18 Caves and Cliffs part 2 release date

Minecraft 1.18 update, otherwise known as Caves & Cliffs part 2, is going to roll out on November 30 on all systems. Players would be able to update their games via the various storefronts or the options in the game's menu.

2. Confirmed new features in Minecraft 1.18

Updated terrain generation and build limit

Minecraft latest update 1.18 will change how mountains and caves generate in the game. Players can expect much higher mountain peaks and bigger mountain biomes now. Additionally cave systems will become bigger and more elaborate, with exposed ores and large ore chains spread throughout.

Mountains are massive and feel like actual mountains now instead of just the usual hills.

The maximum height of world generation has been extended to Y level 320, while the lowest depth has been increased to Y level -64.

Lush caves

Lush caves are the new variant of underground caves filled with vines and plants of all types. Glow berries and azalea trees can be found in this biome.

Candles

Players no longer have to use torches exclusively anymore. This update will bring one of the most popular light sources in history, the candles.

Multicolored candles will be one of the best tools in the game for decoration.

3. Postponed features in Minecraft 1.18

Below are some of the planned features that were held back by Mojang for later updates.

Archeology

Apparently, this feature has been delayed indefinitely. Archeology was one of the more interesting features revealed by Mojang, which includes exploring dig sites and excavating resources such as gold and artifacts. The former would be pretty hard to implement in a game like Minecraft.

Bundles

Bundles is a huge QoL feature that allows players to increase their inventory size drastically. It might change how players carry items in Minecraft forever... and that's probably why this particular feature is delayed.

Goat horn

Goat horn is a new item that players can farm from goats by hitting them with a solid block. It can be used to make sounds.
