A lot of games were announced and delayed in 2021, which resulted in 2022 looking unusually stacked when it comes to new PC releases. In this article, we are going to showcase the top 8 new upcoming PC games 2022 you should look out for, alongside their expected release date.
New Upcoming PC Games 2022
1. Elden Ring
Release date: February 25
Elden Ring is probably the most hyped game in recent years. It has again beaten all others to become the Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards 2021, winning the award for the second year in a row.
Overall, based on the recent trailers and gameplay showcase, Elden Ring is pretty much Dark Souls 4 in everything but name. However, being an open world RPG, it won't have the interconnected level and world that Dark Souls games have. In exchange, the scale of Elden Ring is much bigger than anything its predecessors could come up with.
Furthermore, Elden Ring's gameplay is an improvement over DS 3, with classes that push you toward mixing both might and magic.
2. Starfield
Release date: November 11
Bethesda's RPG formula is pretty famous, with every game released from them a massive open world that players can explore, with plenty of choices to make. Starfield is going to be a Fallout/Elder Scrolls-style game but in Space.
Outside of a couple of screenshots showcasing spaceships and landscapes, there hasn't been much info revealed about Starfield yet. The story put players into the 24th century, right after a massive space conflict called the "Colony War" takes place. Your character will embark upon "an epic journey to answer humanity's greatest mystery."
3. Company of Heroes 3
Release date: 2022
Real-time strategy is a dying genre, with most games of this genre selling pretty poorly in the last two decades. Amongst the franchises that are still being worked on, Company of Heroes is probably the most popular. The newest entry of the series, Company of Heroes 3, is likely to come out this year.
The game is going to have a turn based campaign based on the Ardennes Assault expansion from Company of Heroes 2, which is going to be the series' biggest and most complex yet.
4. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Release date: Early 2022
Warhammer 40k: Darktide is pretty much the 40k version of Vermintide, with players defending themselves in co-op against hordes of enemies. Players will step into the shoes of an Inquisition servant, who descended from a starship to fight diseased cultists in a crowded hive city.
Iconic weapons from the Warhammer 40k franchise such as chainswords, thunder hammers and lasgun will be featured front and center.
5. Baldur's Gate 3
Release date: 2022
Baldur's Gate 3, sequel to the legendary Baldur's Gate series, came out back in 2019 in early access. Players can choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an original character with a hand-crafted background.
Afterward, they can adventure, loot, battle and romance in their journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. This is the only early access title amongst new upcoming PC games 2022.
6. Gotham Knights
Release date: 2022
Gotham Knights is the first Batman game where you don't play as Batman. Instead, you would play as Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood, who are teaming up to protect the city with the Bat's absence.
While the game is unconnected to the Arkham games lore wise, everything else is going to be the same. It is made by the developers of Arkham Origins and based on the Court of Owls storyline from the comics.
7. Stalker 2
Release date: December 8
The cult classic Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl and its spin-offs is one of the classic story-based shooter RPG back in the day. The series was ahead of its time with a dynamic and AI-driven world, creating a unique 'Survival FPS' gameplay. This combines action, stealth, survival and RPG elements - to create an incomparable experience in the Zone.
Stalker 2 promises to add a true open world while staying true to the original game, with the only significant change being the prettier graphics.
8. Saints Row
Release date: August 23
With GTA VI delayed indefinitely, the upcoming Saints Row reboot is going to be the salvation of all GTA fans. It is going to be more grounded than the previous titles, which has the player character save the world from aliens and travel to Hell.
Saints Row's plot is going to be the classic "building a criminal empire from the ground up in an open city". The main city this time is going to be Santo Ileso in the American Southwest, which is pretty much Saints Row's version of Los Santos.
