Reventure, a pixel style 2D platformer game, is finally coming out officially after one year of final early access. You can watch the release trailer here:
Do your hero-ish things in Reventure, but screw up sometimes
At the first look, Reventure seems quite simple. It starts with a popular fairy tale quest: “You are a hero, the princess is in danger, go rescue her!”.
When you try the game for the first time, it’s mainly about adventure. The game will throw at you a bunch of enemies, treasures, traps, just like a normal platformer. Explore your way to the final boss, save the princess, and that’s it!
However, it escalates quickly into a very non-standard story. After finishing the first exploration, you’ll switch to play the game with the goal of unlocking everything.
And soon you will realize that every choice will make you depart from the original path to a very different story. In the process, there will be a lot of things that you can choose to process differently, that will change the whole story.
For example, there are numbers of items that you can choose to pick up. However, the more items you bring with you, the more it will obstruct your jumping abilities. So basically you can store some items, but it will somewhat make some endings not available for you anymore.
As you further explore the world and see new endings, you will find that the game is not as simple as it seems. And [Spoiler Alert] the game will change every time an ending is explored, so it’s very worth spend time experiencing every possible thing.
The game is mainly short-lived run, so you’ll always have to bear in mind the question: “What if I had done THAT instead?”
About the game’s features
Not only does Reventure have a lot of endings but it also has a lot of unlockable stuff. They include new playable characters with new costumes, gears, and even hints.
The game is basically a platformer, but you’ll also experience a lot of genres as well. Time travel, battle royal, survival, perma-death, base building, resource gathering … is promised by the developers. All-in-one package, completely worth trying!
Apart from the gameplay, you can also experience humorous dialogues between the characters and pop-culture references. Dipping further to this feature will require some major spoilers, so you should try it yourself. However, we can ensure that it’s very promising and hilarious. And the 100% positive reviews on Steam won’t lie either.
Reventure is coming out of early access on June 7 on Steam and will be purchasable at the price of $5.99.
