Minecraft is one of the biggest open-world sandbox ever made, and it is filled to the brim with all types of mobs. About half of them are neutral and friendly to players, but only a few can be tamed. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the 6 useful mobs to tame in Minecraft 1.19.

1. Donkey/Llama/Mule

These are the packing animals of Minecraft - all of them can carry a chest in exchange for 15 inventory slots. As you need to lug around a lot of resources in Minecraft, getting a few of these guys is vital. They would let you save a lot of time doing round trips.

The Llama is probably the best amongst them, as they automatically follow each other. A pack of 10 Llamas (the maximum amount) gives you 1350 item slots, perfect for base moving.

2. Skeleton Horse

Skeleton horses can only spawn from a "skeleton trap horse" that is generated naturally by a thunderstorm or by chance (0.75–1.5% chance on Easy, 1.5–4% on Normal, and 2.25–6.75% on Hard, depending on regional difficulty).

The skeleton horses will not attack, only the skeletons with their bows. A skeleton horse can be tamed by killing the skeleton that is riding the horse. Afterward, players will be able to tame it. You also need to equip the skeleton horse with a horse saddle in order to ride it.

3. Brown Mooshroom

Mooshrooms are mushroom-covered variants of cows exclusive to the rare mushroom fields biome. A red mooshroom transforms into a brown mooshroom (and vice versa) when it is struck by lightning. Brown mooshrooms never spawn naturally.

The rarity of this mob is entirely attributed to the hard to find mushroom field biome. As soon as players locate one, creating a brown mooshroom is not that hard. Just wait for rain and place a lightning rod or use a channeling trident to summon lightning.

4. Strider

The Strider is a unique mob that spawns only in the Nether. Because of that, when it comes to Nether travel, nothing beats it because of their immunity to lava. Unlike most mobs, striders can walk on top of lava without sinking. This allows players to navigate the Nether as they see fit, without having to worry about falling to their deaths.

They eat warped fungus, therefore, to control Striders, players need to put warped fungus on a stick and dangle it before their eyes. The player can ride on an adult strider using a saddle and can attach them to leads. Using the warped fungus on a stick while riding a Strider makes it run faster at the cost of 1 durability.

5. Pig

Pigs are one of the best mobs to farm for food in Minecraft. They drops 1–3 raw porkchop or cooked porkchop if killed while on fire (1-6 with Looting III). It is possible to ride a pig by using a saddle on it. When a saddle is used on a pig, the pig might stare at the player for a few seconds. Saddled pigs are controllable with a carrot on a stick.

Cooked porkchops and steaks are some of the most efficient food a player can have in their inventory.

6. Cow

A cow is a passive mob found in most grassy biomes and a source of leather, beef and milk. Herds of four cows spawn in most grassy biomes except for snowy plains, meadows, mangrove swamps and wooded badlands.

Cow drops 0–2 leather (0-5 with Looting III) and 1–3 raw beef or steak if killed while on fire (1-6 with Looting III).

7. Horse

Firstly, the player needs to locate wild horses. They usually spawn in savannas and plains in herds of 2-6 and generate in stables and animal pens inside villages.

Afterward, try to mount the horse by pressing use on it with an empty hand. Repeat the process until the horse is tamed.

All horses have a "temper" stat that increases every time a player tries to mount them. When it reaches 100, the horse becomes tamed. This stat can also be increased manually by feeding the horse. Put a saddle on to ride the Minecraft horse after it is tamed.

8. Cat

Meanwhile, to tame a stray cat, hold a raw fish like salmon or cod and remain as still as possible until the cat comes close to you. Don’t forget that cats will not eat tropical fish. Feed it until hearts show up above its head and it has a collar.

Tamed cats can sleep on the bed with you and occasionally bring you gifts in the morning. The loot can vary from rabbit feet, rabbit hides, feathers, rotten flesh, raw chicken, to phantom membranes.

9. Parrots

Parrots can be tamed by feeding them wheat seeds, melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, or beetroot seeds, with a 1/10 chance of success. Once tamed, interacting with a parrot makes it sit down and stand up.

Use seeds to tame parrots - wheat is the easiest to get.

Similar to tamed wolves and cats, a tamed parrot follows the player unless told to sit. They can also teleport if the distance between them and the player is too high.

Like all tamed animals, upon death, a death message would be displayed to the owner. Feeding a parrot a cookie instantly kills it.

10. Wolf

Dogs are humans’ best friend and it is a commonly-used phrase to describe dogs and humans’ relationship over the years. While domesticated dogs have long been trustworthy pets for thousands of years, and Minecraft users can actually tame a dog’s biological ancestor to their own.
