Copper was added to Minecraft as part of the 1.17 update. It is a flexible material that can be used in a lot of ways. While the Copper Golem lost the Minecraft vote last year, it is likely that Mojang would still add it into the game in the future, as the thing is a great concept.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase the top 4 best uses for Copper in Minecraft 1.19.
1. Create a lightning rod
Lightning is a useful mechanic in Minecraft - it interacts with various mobs and turns them into other mobs. However, lightning is rather hard to control and the lightning rod is the easiest way to use redirect them in a thunderstorm.
A lightning rod is a block used to divert lightning strikes. Players can create a lightning rod by combining 3 copper ingots.
Lightning strikes within a radius of 128 blocks (Java Edition) or 64 blocks (Bedrock Edition) of a lightning rod are redirected to the rod.
- A pig struck by lightning turns into a zombified piglin.
- A red mooshroom changes into a brown mooshroom and vice versa.
- A villager gets replaced by a witch.
- A creeper becomes charged.
2. Create a spyglass
A spyglass is an item that can be used for zooming in on specific locations. Players can create them with 2 copper ingots and 1 amethyst shard.
Using the Spyglass always shows a FOV 1/10 of the FOV set in options. To use a spyglass, the player selects it from the hotbar and clicks use while looking in the desired direction.
3. Decoration
Both the copper ore blocks and copper blocks are great for decorative purposes. The former is an ore with two colors green and brown, which is perfect in structure builds, while the latter comes with a special oxidation feature. This is the only block in Minecraft that changes appearance over time.
By putting copper blocks in builds, players should be able to add a degree of randomness to their decorations. Copper blocks can be waxed with a honeycomb to stop the oxidation process. Using an axe on a waxed copper block turns it into the respective regular copper block.
To create a block of copper, players need to smelt copper ores to get copper ingots, then combine 9 ingots together. Therefore, this is a fairly expensive investment. A variant called Cut copper can also be created by combining 4 blocks of copper.
4. Construction
With stonecutting, players can turn copper blocks into copper slabs and stairs, which are usable for builds. The structure would change color over time in copper builds, which looks pretty unique.
Both variants of copper blocks can be crafted this way. Players can also wax all of them to keep the color.
Where to find Copper in Minecraft?
Similar to other minerals in Minecraft, players can find Copper ore by mining. They can generate anywhere on the Overworld in the form of blobs.
Normal Copper Ore
Blocks of Copper ore spawn in veins similar to Iron ore. Players can find copper in any overworld biome, most commonly in Dripstone caves. While the total spawn range of Copper ore is -16 to 112, it spawns most commonly on Y-level 47-48.
Therefore, the easiest way to locate Copper ore is to get to the nearest Dripstone caves and dig down to Y level 48. Copper ores can spawn with full exposure to air therefore they can be pretty easy to locate.
Deepslate Copper Ore
Deepslate Copper ore is a special variant of Copper ore that's a little bit harder to break. They are created when a Copper block generates within Deepslate.
You can usually find deepslate copper ore in small deposits in the new cave systems that are deep underground in the Overworld. Deepslate copper ore is darker gray with orange and green specks and is usually found at a y-coordinate of -1.
Drowned farm
There is a shortcut for getting copper if you don't want to mine them. Drowned has an 11% chance to drop a Copper ingot if killed by a player or tamed wolf. This chance is increased by 2% for each level of looting enchantment on your weapon.
Build Drowned Farm Minecraft: Flooded Dungeon
Firstly, spawn proof the spawner to stop it from creating zombies. Dig a room around it and create a slope with water flowing down, using the water bucket.
Next, underneath the dungeon, excavate the trap room. The most basic version of the trap consists of a single water block that the zombie falls through from above while drowning in the water. Place a sign on the wall to hold up the bottom of the water block.
Use solid blocks to enclose the water on all sides. you might want to use glass to have an easier time differentiating between drowned zombies and non-drowned zombies. Upon kills, the hoppers would automatically store the drops into the chest.
