During a Livestream, NIS America announced that they are going to bring the cult-hit JRPG Trails of Cold Steel III to PC. The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III was originally released exclusively for the PS4 in Japan on Sept 2017, with an English version over two years afterward, on Oct 2019. While a 3 years delay between releases is certainly terrible, it is at least better than nothing. PC fans will be able to play the game on March 23, 2020.
In Cold Steel 3, you would step into the shoes of protagonist Rean Schwarzer once again, but this time as an instructor. After uncovering a sinister plot that threatens to destroy his homeland, the guy would have to prepare a team of heroes from a branch campus and lead them to victory. Various story elements from the previous games and the Trails In The Sky series would also be included. If you are new to the series, an interactive introduction would keep you up to date for the ongoing story.
Gameplay-wise, Trails III has fine-tuned a lot of aspects of the combat system from the previous games, with various new features like Brave Order and Break System added for variants in combat.
Similar to the previous two PC ports, Cold Steel 3 would get 4K and 21:9 support, advanced graphics options, and uncapped framerate. There is also a feature to increase the game’s speed up to 6 times so that you would not have to waste your time grinding.
Overall, if you are looking for a solid game that encompasses all the most notable qualities that JRPGs would offer, Trails of Cold Steel 3 is a great pick. Its sequel and the saga's conclusion, Trails of Cold Steel 4, has already been released in Japan in 2018, however, there is no information whatsoever about an English release.
