As we hit the halfway mark of the year, esports fans are probably pumped for the Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia. It’s got big cash prizes and some heavy-hitting names behind it. Now, the PUBG Mobile World Cup has dropped its Group Draw results, setting things up for the main event starting July 25th.
If you’re not up to speed, the Group Draw sorts all the competing teams into three groups. These groups then battle it out in the Group Stage, where the field gets narrowed down. Teams that don’t make the cut get one final shot at the Grand Finals (August 1st) through the Survival Stage (July 29th).
The groups are lined up as follows:
- Group Red: Team Falcons, Horaa Esports, eArena, POWR Esports, Alpha7 Esports, Nongshim RedForce, Weibo Gaming, Aryan & TMG Gaming.
- Group Yellow: Fire Flux Esports, Regnum Carya Esports, 4Thrives Esports, Team Secret, Team Vision, Influence Rage, DRX, Yangon Galacticos.
- Group Green: IDA Esports, Alpha Gaming, Alter Ego Ares, Garamax Esports, Intense Game, Kinotrope Gaming, TT Global, R8 Esports.
Champions of the World
The Group Draw is a big deal in any serious esports tournament. These placements could lead to some wild matchups or give certain teams an easier path forward, depending on how you rate their skills.
As for the event itself, a lot of eyes will be on the EWC this year to see if it lives up to the hype. The big money behind it doesn’t automatically mean it’ll be a hit, so some exciting matches and tough competition will be what makes or breaks it.
