When GTA 6 was unveiled in December 2023 alongside its debut trailer, it was only confirmed for release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. While the absence of PC confirmation disappointed many, it wasn't entirely unexpected considering Rockstar's history.
In a recent interview at the TD Cowen 52nd Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed questions about the absence of the PC version of GTA, among other topics related to GTA and the company as a whole.

GTA V and GTA Online have made an enormous fortune
In the interview, the host mentioned TD Cowen's estimation that GTA V has generated $10 billion in bookings since its launch, a figure that Mr. Zelnick seemed to affirm as accurate with "simple math."
“The world is a different place than when we did launch GTA V. What came before at that point was IV, we had some downloadable add-on content, there was no online version,” said Zelnick.
The conversation then shifted to the potential of GTA VI. Zelnick highlighted the immense growth of the franchise since the launch of GTA V, emphasizing its status as the number one entertainment property across all forms. Despite the anticipation surrounding GTA VI, Zelnick acknowledged that without actual gameplay and a flawless release, it's all just talk. He emphasized the importance of delivering an exceptional video game and expressed confidence in Take-Two's ability to support a hit title, citing the company's significant growth and influence in the industry since 2013.
Will GTA 6 hit PC?
When discussing the possibility of GTA VI being available for PC, and considering its announcement for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick neither confirmed nor denied a PC port. Instead, he emphasized Rockstar's track record of addressing platforms gradually over time.
“Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone,” the CEO announced.
The conversation also touched on future iterations of the franchise, with speculation about Rockstar's ambitions for live service components and other projects beyond GTA. The CEO highlighted Rockstar's ongoing activities since GTA V's release, particularly the success of GTA Online and the transition towards live services. While details were scarce, it's implied that GTA VI will eventually come to PC when Rockstar is confident in delivering a quality port.
