The big update is coming to PUBG! Erangel is getting a new look and blue zone update. There will be a new mechanic called "ledge grab" in addition to the vault system and a brand new vehicle which can run both on the ground and on the water. The game new content from now on will be released through themed seasons along with a new version of the Survivor Pass every season. Check out this new video from the developers where they talk about the new updates and the direction for the game in the future.
Erangel new look and blue zone
Erangel was introduced along with the launch of PUBG on Steam's Early Access on March 23, 2017. It is the most popular map and the most favorite maps in the game since everyone is familiar with it. However, in term of gameplay and competitiveness, Miramar and Sanhok offer players a much better experience and Erangel is gradually losing its place in the player's heart.
The map has already received two loot changes this summer from the developer with the hope to improve players' experience with the inconsistence loot. However, it didn't seem to be enough, which is why Erangel is getting more changes to the blue zone, a fresher look, and new buildings.
The building styles, the terrain, and the scenery will be remodeled to have a more realistic look. PUBG developer just released a video on Youtube to show players what the new Erangel will look like. While the map will look much more detailed, some players concern that the changes will affect the performance of the map as PUBG isn't very well-optimized yet. Also, more detail means it will be harder to spot the enemy and promote the defensive play.
As for the blue zone, they are making the circle smaller at the start of the game while making it close sooner at the same time. The speed of the zone in the early and middle phase will be reduced so players will have a much easier time getting in the circle without a vehicle. The damage of the blue zone in the late game will slightly increase to force the player to enter the circle earlier.
New ability " ledge grab"
According to the video, it seems that ledge grab will allow players to hold on to the edge of structures. For example, you won't need to jump directly on top of the roof anymore, instead, you will just have to reach the edge then your character will hold on to it and climb up.
This change will how people play the game as it gives players access to explore more locations and places "where they haven't been able to before." It will definitely add a new layer of complexity to the game as more unexpected hiding spots will be discovered.
New vehicle BRDM
The ability to be used on both water and road is simply just too powerful, not to mention the protection BRDM provides with its armor. It will be the replacement for the armored UAZ you get from the flare gun. We still don't know how much health it has but we will soon know about in the test server.
