Following the concept of S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, the developer Mobile Technology has introduced their new open-world MMO title - Stalker Online. Players will have the chance to dive in the disaster sites of Chernobyl on Steam this Fall.
In order to celebrate this event, the developer has revealed a new gameplay trailer, focusing on the survival experience in the land full of radiation. You can have a look at it below:
About Stalker Online
There are a lot of video games that take the settings of the Chernobyl disaster, but until now, it's safe to say that there is no title has done better than the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. The series' title has to be written with a dot separating every letter because it's not the "Stalker" that you already know.
In fact, it shorts for the Scarvengers, Trespasser, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers and Robbers - which demonstrates the investigation of a group of scientists experimenting in the disaster area of Chernobyl. Hence, I don't know why the developer Mobile Technology has decided to choose "Stalker Online" for their game's name.
Nevertheless, Stalker Online will follow the same story of the 1979's movie - Stalker and many video games adaptations later on. In this game, you'll take control of a stalker, diving in the area of Chernobyl with post-Soviet landscape for investigation. The second explosion has caused a major change to the area, which caused the appearance of many mutant species and anomalies.
However, you will not have to embark in this scenery alone, as there are also a lot of online stalkers venturing into this world. Staying safely at your place will not be an option, as you can only survive with priceless resources. Hence, you'll have to throw yourself outside, encountering the mutants, shoot them down to gather more resources.
After solving your essential needs, you'll start to think more about adventuring. Players will find their familiar RPG elements in this game, as they can level up and customize their character upon further progressing. Furthermore, you can also upgrade your weapons and equipment as well. The trailer above has showcased a quick scene, where you can see that you can upgrade your guns with suppressors and ammo bars.
The developer also mentioned the trading mechanics and factions, but we don't have any in-depth information yet.
Launch date
Mobile Technology has announced that they'll bring Stalker Online to Steam at some times this Fall. This means we won't have to wait for a lot longer to try the game. However, we don't know whether the game will be free-to-play or not.
