Cryo is generally considered the very peak of DPS in Genshin Impact, with 3 of the top 6 best DPS characters in the game being Cryo. Characters with Cryo Vision usually have a high crit rate boosted by Cryo Resonance while also being able to trigger the Melt reaction for damage. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase a tier list for all Cryo characters Genshin Impact 2022.
SS tier
Ganyu
Not many characters in Genshin can compare to Ganyu in the ranged damage department. She can continuously dish out a great amount of AOE damage using Frostflake arrows. With her high base Crit damage and multiple AoE skills, she can deal excellent damage even at C0.
Ganyu is also an excellent sub-DPS as well, with her Elemental Burst dealing good damage and having great uptime. Players can keep it up 100% during combat and apply Cyro continuously to foes. This ability is the reason Ganyu is amongst the best DPS in Genshin Impact.
Diona
Diona is probably one of the best supports in the game. Aside from dealing damage, there is nothing in the game she can't do. Diona's kit has heal, shield, cleanses, and even ally buffs. Her constellation (C1, C2 and C6) increases her supporting ability even further by buffing team damage.
However, Diona has a lot of weaknesses in exchange for her power. Despite having HP scaling on all parts of her kit, Diona has one of the lowest base HP in the game. Her ascend bonus stat (Cryo Damage) is also pretty useless for support. The best bow for Diona is the Sacrificial bow. It gives her a chance to recast her ability.
Ayaka
Most Ayaka builds focus on her charged attacks and elemental burst to deal damage to enemies. She has one of the highest Cryo damage in the game, with her burst constantly triggering Cryo to all enemies caught in it.
Ayaka is fairly straightforward and simple to play, despite having a unique sprint. Players can easily juggle her in their lineups, as her skills all have a short cast time. Lastly, she is a very F2P friendly character. With just the Blizzard Strayer set and Cryo Resonance, players can easily get to max crit rate and only need to focus on getting more crit damage on Ayaka's artifacts.
S tier
Shenhe
Shenhe excels at buffing allies and debuffing enemies. She is tailor-made for mono Cryo teams and provides large amounts of Cryo and Physical resistance shred. Her poor performance outside of mono Cryo keeps Shenhe away from the highest tier.
She gets a huge power spike at C2, with her burst lasting 6 more seconds and all allies inside gaining +15% Cryo Crit DMG.
Eula
Eula is a DPS fighter whose greatest strength is her powerful burst and physical damage potential. As her Elemental Burst deal Phys damage, it is best to build Eula around Physical damage. Her Cryo Vision grants access to the Superconduct elemental reaction, which amplifies her physical damage even further.
However, as Eula does not focus on her elements, building around her can be tricky. Players usually need good support to get the best out of Eula's kit.
A tier
Qiqi
Qiqi is one of the worst 5 star characters in the game, with long cooldown skills, lower than average cryo application and energy regeneration. While she performs well as a healer, that role can be covered by other characters without costing DPS. And if you are building correctly, you usually don't need a top tier healer anyway.
However, being a 5 star, Qiqi still has the stats of a 5 star and can deal decent DPS with the right gear.
Rosaria
Rosaria is a decent sub DPS Cryo character who can deal good damage and provide a buff to other Cryo DPS. She is the go-to choice of players for Cryo support... before Shenhe's debut. Her support capability is maximized at C6, which gives her Burst a debuff that reduces enemies' physical RES.
Kaeya
Kaeya is a decent low-tier sub DPS and support. Currently, he has the highest Normal Attack scaling among all sword users. He also has Cryo vision, which is great in triggering Superconduct. However, it is hard to build Kaeya up, as you can only get his constellation via the Standard Banner.
B tier
Chongyun
Chongyun is usually considered a Sub-DPS character that only comes out to fire his Elemental Burst. He is fairly lackluster as a main DPC due to the low scaling on his Normal and Charged Attacks.
Another weakness of his kit is the Frost Field from his elemental skill. Characters inside this field will become Cryo infused, which might be a problem for physical-focused melee characters like Keqing or Razor. This is why Chongyun is on the bottom half of the list.
C tier
Aloy
Aloy actually does ok as a Sub-DPS, with a spamable Elemental Burst. This allows Aloy to deal good damage with low energy requirements.
Aloy's Elemental Skill, however, is fairly underwhelming. It has a long cooldown, which makes her one of the worst Cryo appliers in-game. You usually need to run another support like Kazuha or Sucrose to help her get enough stacks for Rushing Ice State. The lack of any constellations also hampers her power greatly.
