Free Fire has a pretty robust weapon system, with a lot of guns that other battle royales do not have. In fact, they have been adding more and more weapons to the game, with a brand new subclass 'LMG' created in OB27, with the addition of the new gun Kord and the class' mechanics. In this article, we are going to showcase the top 7 best Free Fire OB29 Machine Guns, including both SMG and LMG.
1 - Vector Akimbo
The Vector is the first akimbo weapon ever added to Free Fire... and the best Free Fire OB29 machine guns. With one Vector on each hand, you can deal a ludicrous amount of damage with each burst, especially in close-range fights. Since its release, the weapon has been successful in kicking the MP40 out of the top, despite its multiple nerfs.
While the Vector is very similar to the MP40 damage-wise, its range is much better. The Vector is also better with attachments as well - each Vector can be equipped with a muzzle, which further increases their accuracy.
2 - Kord
Kord gun is the newest weapon among all light machine guns in Free Fire, added as part of the OB27 update. It seems to be a "middle tier" between the M60 and the M249, with average magazine size, damage and fire rate. In the current OB29 patch, the Kord is one of the deadliest close to mid-range machine guns in the game.
Overall, the best part about the Kord gun in Free Fire is its special machine gun mode that can be activated by crouching. Garena has decided to further buff its accuracy and give it an even higher fire rate in the OB28 weapon changes update. It allows the Kord to shoot 3 bullets at the same time and increases its accuracy and fire rate by 25%.
3 - M249
Overall, the airdrop-only M249 in Free Fire is a slightly bulkier AR with a larger magazine. Due to its rarity, the M249 has really good stats, with decent damage, range and magazine size. With this gun equipped and skill supports, you can tear through gloo walls like paper... and still have enough firepower to deal with other enemies.
The Machine gun mode gives the M249 even more damage (+5) when crouched. While this is not as substantial as the Kord, you can still score some serious damage.
4 - UMP
The UMP gun in Free Fire is the most damaging SMG in the game, as it is the only SMG with the ability to pierce armor. With a whopping 63 points in AP, it can ignore up to two-third of enemies' damage reduction. Besides its excellent damage, the gun also has the highest reload and movement speed in the class. This allows you to be mobile and rotate faster.
Try to fit it with attachments if you are going to stick with the UMP. A foregrip and muzzle are crucial, as the gun has a fairly high recoil and bullet spread.
5 - CG15
An SMG/Rifle hybrid made with future technology, the CG15 has one of the strongest statline in its class, along with a special ability. While other SMGs have only 40 or lower range, the CG15 comes with a whopping 71, which is nearly rifle level. In battle royales like Free Fire, the longer the range, the more useful the weapon gets. If you have a weapon with a longer range, you would be able to hit your enemies before they can hit you.
Unlike other SMGs, the CG 15 also has a special ability called "charged shot". By charging for a few seconds, players can fire a bullet that deals a lot more damage. You should get an extended magazine while using the CG15, as it has a fairly small magazine size.
6 - M60
The third and last light machine gun in the game. The M60 is very similar to an AR - it was even classified as an AR before OB27. However, with the release of the machine gun mode, the weapon is actually useful now instead of just being a subpar assault rifle.
With the machine gun mode activated, the M60 gets an extra 28% rate of fire, which boosts its DPS exponentially. You get an easier time scoring headshots with the higher fire rate as well. To wield the M60 effectively, just fire it in a similar fashion as an AR.
7 - MP40
The MP40 is an "all or nothing" weapon that completely focuses on melee combat. In exchange for the highest fire rate amongst all weapons in Free Fire, the MP40 has one of the lowest effective range. Before the Vector Akimbo's release, the MP40 used to be the most popular choice for close range fights, as it has the potential to deal rapid burst damage.
As it is a fairly old weapon, the MP40 is still really popular. If you are going to use it, try to get stock and magazine attachments to improve its DPS even further.
