After the 2.1 update, Genshin Impact introduced fishing and the feature has added even more to the appeal of the game. One of the best rewards players can get from this, alongside Luxurious Sea-Lord, is the two-pronged trident-looking polearm called The Catch.

It is indeed the best free Polearm to get in all of the game. However, one of The Catch Genshin requirements is you must have reached Inazuma. Apart from that, the process of obtaining Genshin Impact The Catch is quite simple. Check out our guide to know how to get it and how to refine the weapon to another level.

How to get The Catch fast

The only way to get The Catch is fishing. Players need to collect the required fish and exchange them for the weapon at the Inazuma Fishing Association. Genshin Impact users can find Fishing Association between Inazuma City and Byakko Plain.

In our Genshin Impact The Catch guide, you will know what items you need to obtain The Catch and where to find them.

  • 6 x Raimei Angelfish: found close to the shipwreck east of Tatarasuna in Inazuma, from 18:00 to 6:00.
  • 20 x Golden Koi: found in only one place on the mainland of Inazuma: east of Koseki Village on Seirai Island.
  • 20 x Rusty Koi: found in the same spot as the Golden Koi.
The Catch Genshin Impact
Is The Catch permanent and how many times can you redeem it?

Players can go to find each fish at their fishing spots across Teyvat. In case they need more than these fish, assure to check the fishing spot compendium.

Remember that The Catch can only be exchanged once. And while Raimei Angelfish needs False Worm Bait, the Kois will require Fake Fly baits. The blueprints for these fish baits can be bought from Nantuck, the Mondstadt fishing guy. The blueprints will cost you 6 Medaka fish in total.

Is The Catch permanent, as some may ask? Luckily, The Catch is a permanent part of the Inazuma Fishing Association. You can get it anytime without worrying whether it will no longer be valid.

How to refine Genshin Impact The Catch

Now that you have been able to unlock The Catch, your Baal team will name a bench after you for this good deed.

However, you can be stronger if you refine The Catch. Its effect will be improved from “Increases Elemental Burst damage by 16 percent and Elemental Burst Critical Rate by 6 percent.” to “Increases Elemental Burst damage by 32 percent and Elemental Burst Critical Rate by 12 percent.”

Fortunately, you can also obtain the refining materials for The Catch from the Inazuma Fishing Association reparative. He will need three things from you for each refinement:

  • 3 x Raimei Angelfish: Return to the shipwreck east of Tatarasuna in Inazuma, from 18:00 to 6:00.
  • 10 x Pufferfish: Found off Ritou Harbor in Inazuma, or at the southernmost part of the island having Fort Hiraumi.
  • 10 x Bitter Pufferfish: Found off Ritou Harbor in Inazuma, or off the northern shore of Nazuchi Beach.

And that’s what you need for one refinement. As four refinements are ahead, players will have to prepare 18 Raimei Angelfish, 40 Pufferfish, and 40 Bitter Pufferfish.

The Catch ascension materials

For The Catch ascension, you have to farm three items in Genshin Impact. Below also shows how you can get them.

1. “Mask” weapon ascension materials

Masks of the Wicked Lieutenant, the One-Horned, the Tiger’s Bite, and the Kijin are only up for grabs from the Court of Flowing Sand. Players can also farm this domain for Masks on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

2. Ruin Sentinel drops

The Chaos Gear, Chaos Oculus, and Chaos Axis items are dropped only after you defeated Ruin Sentinels. If you wonder where to find these mechanical enemies, they are all over Inazuma, especially at notable spots like Araumi, Amakumo Peak, and north Watatsumi.

You can use the Genshin Impact Interactive Map to get a more thorough look at these locations.

Ruin Sentinel Drops
Defeating Ruin Sentinel will give you the materials to ascend The Catch.

3. Specter drops

Specter is a new enemy added in Genshin Impact 2.1. These floating creatures will drop the needed materials to get The Catch to the next level. Defeated Specters give Spectral Husks, Spectral Hearts, and Spectral Nuclei.

With enough Mora and an abundance of these materials, you can easily get The Catch to the maximum ascension level.

Best characters to use The Catch

The Catch in Genshin Impact is perfect for characters like Zhongli, Raiden Shogun, and Xiangling. If you have Baal but cannot afford her fancy 5-star Engulfing Lightning Polearm, it is great to have The Catch as the alternative.

Apart from being free, the weapon also provides hefty bonuses for Elemental Burst, Energy Recharges damage and the Elemental Burst critical hit rate. The other characters you can use The Catch with are Hu Tao, Thoma, and Rosaria.
